Karen Miller co-founded WILLO LLC in 2016 to help companies support the retention, development and advancement of women leaders and embrace thought diversity.
Prior to founding WILLO, Ms. Miller, as Senior Vice President (SVP) of Corporate Development and Corporate Communications at Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, developed and served as Executive Sponsor for the Sigma-Aldrich Women in Leadership (WIL) Network, which had over 500 members globally. Founded in 2010, WIL’s mission is to create an inclusive community that connects the needs and interests of women leaders to promote personal and professional growth.
Ms. Miller retired in 2015 from Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, a $2.8 billion global life science company, after its successful sale to Merck KGaA. As SVP, Ms. Miller was responsible for Sigma-Aldrich’s merger and acquisition and other business development activities as well as overseeing the Corporate and Global Marketing Communications functions. Additionally, Ms. Miller was responsible for the establishment and scale-up of a Global Shared Service Center in Bangalore, India which had approximately 600 resources. Prior to this, from 2009 until 2012, Ms. Miller served as SVP, Strategy and Corporate Development which included responsibilities for the Company’s Enterprise Strategy. Ms. Miller joined Sigma-Aldrich in 1997 as Vice President and Corporate Controller. In that capacity, until 2008, she served as the global leader of approximately 300 finance and accounting individuals located in 30 countries responsible for the Company’s financial and internal control environment.
Prior to joining Sigma-Aldrich, Ms. Miller worked at Allergan, Inc. from 1990 to 1997. During that time, she served as Manager and Director, Corporate Reporting, Controller, Surgical Division and finally as Vice President, Controller, Americas Region. She worked at KPMG Peat Marwick from 1979 to 1990 in audit and advisory services, progressing to the role of Senior Manager.
